Description: This site is a beautiful senior residence funded by HACE (Hispanic Association of Contractors and Enterprises), a nonprofit housing authority. The residents of Somerset Villas are mostly Puerto Rican, but some are from various Caribbean nations and the U.S. Tutoring takes place in a community room with tables and chairs. Spanish language skills are helpful. Several of the residents are beginners and will need help with basic reading and writing.

Other Services and Activities Offered at Site: The residence social worker organizes special events, fundraisers, and holiday parties for residents.

Public Transportation from Temple University: Take the Broad Street Line subway south to City Hall. Transfer to the Market-Frankford Line and take it to Huntington.   When you exit the El, turn right onto B Street. You should be facing Episcopal Hospital. Walk along the iron gate of the hospital for one block.  Cross Lehigh and B will turn into Gurney Street.  Gurney Street will take to the gated parking lot of Somerset Villas.  When you enter the building, you will pass a guard station where you will have to sign in. After signing in, walk straight ahead. The community room will be directly in front of you.

Driving: Drive east on Cecil B. Moore (towards 13th Street), until you get to Front Street. Make a left on Front Street. Next, make a slight right onto Kensington Avenue—this will be where Kensington, Front, and York intersect. Follow Kensington for a few blocks until you get to B Street. Turn left onto B Street. B Street will turn into Gurney Street. When it does, turn left. Look for a gated parking lot, which will be on your left. You may park in the lot, but park close to the wall opposite to Somerset Villas.
